Yatabe Area held the International Reedy Race Of Champions Off-Road over 2/28-3/1. There was an open and invite class. The Invite class was taken by Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri. Ryan’s been on a roll the last few years. It doesn’t seem to matter where and when the race is…..as this guy is one of the greatest r/c drivers of all time..

BAR CODES!
From the looks of this pic I found…it looks like J Concepts Bar Codes were the control tire/tire of choice.

A staging area! Wow…this is really a classy thing. It looks like each car individually is announced as the filmographer shoots a video…pretty pimp…

Cavelleri , Naoto, and Brent of AE

Unidentified Japanese racer, Adachi, and Masami (whom apparently isn't racing this event)

Its February/March…its Japan…SNOW! What else would you expect. Never fear…Yatabe is a giant tent.

Oh man….look at that trench/lane. Can you imagine racing on that? Imagine making a pass on the high side of the trench!

Heres the entry form….I know what you are saying…I can’t read Chinese. Well first off all, its Japan….so this is Japanese. Luckily for my English only speaking/reading viewers, I read a little…as it was my minor in college and personal hobby for around 10 years or so. This race has a interesting format for the open class. Saturday and Sunday are Monster Truck and 2WD Open Buggy. Sunday is Stock 2wd Buggy and 4WD Open Buggy. I guess they ran he heats and mains in the same day. Also, the entry fee is only around $35. Thats pretty cheap for Japan where most things are more than the U.S. Heres the form.

The rumor is that the Off Road Reedy Race will return to the U.S. in 2009 or 2010. Nothing is confirmed yet. That should be a good race if it goes down.
Another random Yatabe note….check this high tech clip board/frequency marker/ticket machine. The most organized clip board in the history of r/c racing.
