GearIt for the Apple Iphone is now available
One night in January, long time high school friend of mine Charles Heizer stayed at my home. He was in town for the Mac World expo where he was set to speak as part of a panel of Apple programmers. He mentioned that he was trying to think of a Iphone app he could make. I joked that he should make a gear chart calculator for r/c cars. I really didn’t think he was going to do it….guess what…he did. Within a month he showed me the prototype of Gear It 1.0 .
The initial program isn’t that fancy, but it gets the job done. It’s preloaded with around 75 cars. You are able to select the spur, pinion, car type (gear box ratio), and tire diameter (for foams). You do this with the touch screen and scroll bar. For those not using foam tires, ignore the rollout and tire size…as this doesn’t matter.
