When touring car tires are taken out of the packaging, they have a oily solution on them. In addition, they have a center molding. Removal will result in faster times. This is especially true for the first run of a new set of tires. This is a technique that is best for more experienced racers. It requires the use of a tire truer or tire sander. There are many nice units on the market from various manufactures. For best results, complete the following.

Get a tire truer or tire sander

Unchuck the sander/truer

Get a piece of sandpaper. Preferably 200+ grit or higher

Fold in such a way as to have a “edge”

Chuck the tire onto the sander. Plug it into your power source. You may need protective eyewear for this. Work the sandpaper edge on the high point of the folding

The end result sould look something like this….or perhaps even better. Try to get the molding down to the face of the tire as flat as possible with as little of divots as possible. Divots tend to split the rubber of the tire during usage thus negating any results.
Spray a clean cloth with motor spray or rubbing alcohol. Clean the surface of the tire. This is good to do before applying any tire sauce.
