Atomic has released this new Direct Spool for the TRF416. This can be used on the 416 WCE as well.
The spool features a centeraluminum section which is anodized in customary TRF blue.
The spool cups are steel. This is similar to the Tamiya TA05 spool and spool cups.
The spool produced by Tamiya is made of similar aluminum with plastic cups. These cups are very fragile and tend to break or melt due to racing pressure and collisions. At the same time, plastic cups produce a lighter spool. This leads to less wheel chatter….which is common with spools.
The steel cups provided in the Atomic spool will most likely not break. The downside will be the increased chatter. This product is a good option for club racing or for the budget minded enthusiast.
