This weekend, Japan’s biggest hobby show takes place. The 48th Annual Shizuoka model show bring news on new releases from most manufatures. This year, Tamiya announced the release of many new products. Here are a few that caught my eye.

First up, the Buggy Champ. In case you don’t know, Tamiya started the entire electric 1/10 off-road industy 30 years ago. Before the RC10, there was the Buggy Champ. It was released in 1979. This year marks its 30th anniversary. The new version is less some of its outdated parts such as the damper oil bottle that used to be attached to the rear shock tower, manual speed control, etc. The new 2009 version looks to have retained much of the same stylings including realistic buggy look, cast metal parts, hard shell body, and more. This is a classic and a must cop for classic r/c buffs. This is literally the one that started it all….a true grandfather
