TOP GUN CHALLENGE – AUG 15-16

Nor Cal Hobbies of Union City, CA is planning a big 2 day On-Road extravaganza on August 15-16, 2009. The “Top Gun Challenge” will be presented by Top Racing, Tekin, Prime, and Solaris.  Touring Car spec tires for the event will be the Solaris brand. The 13.5 and Mod Touring classes champions will be determined in the “Top Gun Maverick” format.  The Top Gun format will be similar to the Reedy Race Of Champions Invitational Class format.  All Touring Mod entrants will be seeded into random “heads up” races for 7 races/rounds. There will be 3 rounds on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. The 13.5 class will run 3 rounds of normal qualifying on Saturday. The best 28 times will advance in 13.5 to the “Maverick” format. From there, 4 rounds/races will be run. Remaining 13.5 entrants will advance to the “Goose” division where they will run normal mains (A, B,etc).  Maverick points will be awarded based on finish. The overall 13.5 and Mod champions will be determined by the lowest point totals with throwouts. The 17.5 Touring, Mini Cooper, Sedan Nitro and RCGT races will be run in the normal qualifying/mains format. You may download the flyer HERE.
